Call for Officer Candidates
Have you ever had an interest in getting more involved in the San Francisco Microscopical Society? Then now is your opportunity to take on a leadership role in the organization.
We are pleased to announce the call for candidates to be considered for the 2019-2020 Board of Directors for the San Francisco Microscopical Society. SFMS is a welcoming community of folks passionate about all forms of microscopy. SFMS is a non-profit educational organization devoted to the teaching and sharing of microscopy.
All regular and life members with an interest in serving SFMS are invited to apply.
Election Details:
The election of officers will be by ballot, and voted upon by members present at the next general meeting. This is scheduled for Tuesday January 15, 2019, 7pm-9pm at the Randall Museum (Randall Room: 199 Museum Way, San Francisco CA 94114, https://www.randallmuseum.org/about-us/directions-hours/ )
Please send all candidate name submissions with a couple sentences describing yourself and any experience or interest you have in the particular office position for the ballot entry by email to: sfmicrosoc-board@googlegroups.com
Officer Positions through till January 31, 2020:
President: Preside over all meetings of the Society and of the Board of Directors. Appoint standing committees and supervise the general business of the Society. Make a report of the condition and progress of the Society in all its departments at the annual meeting, and bring to notice any important events of interest.
Vice-President: Support general business of the Society, program development and in the absence of the President; carry out the President’s duties.
Recording Secretary: Keep a record of the proceedings of the Society. Give suitable notice of the time and place of meeting of the Society, keep a classified list of the members, and attend to such other business as the Board of Directors may direct.
Corresponding Secretary: Attend to the distribution of the publications of the Society to regular and other members. Conduct correspondence with societies and individuals, notify members of their election and furnish them with membership cards.
Treasurer: Attend to all receipts and disbursements of the Society, giving such bonds and furnishing such vouchers as the Directors may require. Collect all dues from the members, and keep an accurate account of all receipts and disbursements, furnish the Board of Directors from time-to-time, as they may require, with a list of members entitled to vote and make a general report to the Society at the annual meeting.
